Concept: The concept of Solstice drives the captivating, ever changing environment. With inspiration from solstice sites and ceremonies around the world, Solstice is about the celebration and honor of a special moment that is forever captured. Characteristics of Solstice sites such as radial symmetry, geometric shapes, and alignment of sunlight dominates the architecture and design. The highly energetic space is sophisticated, engaging, and constantly alluring.
Solstice Event: Uniquely shaped skylights inspired by solstice events are implemented into the architecture of the space. The sunlight will cast shadows in the shape of the skylights and will align at noon on each solstice event. Alignment will happen on the floor for the summer solstice, and on the walls for the winter solstice. The exact place of alignment will be marked by a material change of reclaimed copper. This event is re-created every night using custom cut Gobo lights. RBGAW LED lighting is used throughout the space for optimal color rendering. Lighting is a key component for color changes and creating drama within the space. |
